After a few weeks of photographing some fairly big destination weddings, it was nice to capture a small family wedding event.

Their wedding took place on May 9th at Beaches Turks & Caicos. A few hours after the ceremony, I collected the family from the resort and took them on a short drive to Leeward Beach – one of my favorite spots in Provo for a photo shoot.

Rick was so keen, he almost beat me to the ceremony site! Jennifer was calm, great to work with and the whole event was a joy to be a part of as they simply enjoyed this special moment in Turks and Caicos.

Jack and Diane from Island Harmony were on hand to make sure everything was smooth sailing. As they always do when doing weddings together, they actually stopped to watch and enjoy the ceremony…Kinda cool !

Last week I took the boat over to Pine Cay for an 8 am shoot with a family who had used us a couple years ago and we completely lucked out, it was overcast!  This meant we had the most amazing soft light even on the beach and at Pine Cay its a really fabulous beach on a private island,so we could relax, play, have fun and let the little ones do their thing ! Check it out.

Rebecca was a true “star” and was simply having a wonderful time playing with mum and dad as we worked our way through the lush tropical gardens and down to the beach. The early start meant that the beach was virtually all our own as we ran, jumped and played in the sand. What a great way to start the morning off !

As regular readers will know -  – I like to start off with dad ;-)

but it wasn’t long before Rebecca wanted in on the action…

The Sands has some great hammocks that we took advantage of…

Even the short beach access path was a “photo opportunity”!

Having great pictures should not be difficult. Being able to share those favorite and special moments should be effortless, not just today, but also tomorrow, in two years time and in a decade. Technology is great – but the touch, feel, smell even of a fine book is still the gold standard. Being able to pass a suitably hefty volume of your favorite pictures to some one special is a great feeling , a great way to connect with each other – still… we’ve just found some great new ways to do just that !

Always searching for the best for you. So a recent visit to the WPPI (top wedding photographers in the world conference in Vegas) led me to review every major album company on the planet more or less…the result? A new and growing relationship with two killer album companies.

 

First our new signature 11×14 coffee table book . New for 2012 it comes its own matching box with an image inlaid on the cover…

Every time I’ve opened this over the last few weeks I got a ‘gasp” from the bride sitting next to me, when she saw the full metal cover and  the “pop” of the color…

Also new for 2012 we included the option for  the opening page being a double page spread  (bottom left) – again this really gives a “wow” to your book.

New album company – new printing technique – it’s better than ever…really helps show off those Turks and Caicos colors !

This time a smaller book 10×10 – but the same concept. A matching box for your book.

What really drew us to this new style was ability to combine the pictures and text together rather than the older engraving on the leather that had many limitations of font style and size.

Now for something completely different! Unlike the albums above, this is a book! With the ability to have upto 300 pages, its handmade in New York and has nice thick “art” paper. Again it comes with its own slip in case.

Gorgeous printing on this art paper – its nothing like “online books” Each one is unique and is 100% customized – vellums, end papers and it has a multitude of styles that we select.

Ellen and Michael own a condo here and visit frequently and so it felt like helping “old friends” with their special event. Add in the mix Lou and Doug (Ellen’s cousin) who are a “fixture” on Provo and it was always going to be fun! With Island Harmony coordinating and the Gansevoort serving as a lovely backdrop it was a delightful time.

Dad came up to the penthouse to see what was going on. Michael was a very relaxed groom..

Always love that moment when it “all comes together” and everyone sees the bride for the first time.

Everyone was having fun ! Cliff especially !

Ellen and Michael had written their own vows and they were really good. Tears everywhere!

For some reason I like this a lot – the little smile on Michael’s face and the “hint” of the others around them during this “moment”.

I can well remember, we had to run to catch the sunset at Leeward beach for their Island Engagement session :-)

A few months later, on April 28th this year, we met once again but this time it was for their long awaited wedding day. Kellie and I started taking some photos with Jennifer and Ben getting ready at the Somerset Resort where the wedding ceremony was going to take place. Jennifer and Ben’s wedding day was planned a little differently to what we are used to and it worked out really well. After the Bride and Groom’s first look at the beautiful hotel gardens we took some family photos and everyone met for cocktails and appetizers before the start of the ceremony.

After their ceremony, we took Jennifer and Ben to the beach to photograph just the two of them and that was just the start of fun night with great people and lots of dancing.

Diane and her team from Island Harmony did an outstanding job with all the wedding  planing and decorations.

The story of Joy and Alex is “written in the stars” and, after 10 years together, they made the vows to spend the rest of their lives together.

This wedding could not have been missed: family and friends traveled from Scandinavia, Qatar, Egypt and USA to the Turks and Caicos to celebrate an amazing day.

Is that the water of the sea of the pool? The Atlantic Ocean may get offended if you call it “pool”

Despite a cloudy day and some late rain that was on again, off again, it was a great wedding with fun moments, the boys playing their part and both Frank and Lucinda looking fab.
