Who are Brilliant?
Brilliant is the name for the “people photography” services of Tropical Imaging – we’ve been working under the “TI” name for the past sixteen years, and decided it was time for a name that better reflected the fun and quality that we produce with our clients on weddings and portraits, as well as being shorter, easier to remember – and quicker to type into an Internet search engine!

It’s all about being in the right place at the right time. In 1966 Turks & Caicos was an undiscovered rock in the Atlantic Ocean. Today it’s the fastest growing country in the Caribbean, a hotspot for high-end luxury resort development – a true celebrity retreat. It was in 1995 that Andy first pulled out a map and found the TCI.
The company was born underwater; nearly every day, Andy Mann (ceo) and his wife Krys would go out and shoot underwater video and photography for the few divers that made it down to the distant Turks & Caicos Islands. As the island grew, so did the opportunities and requests coming in for underwater images for hotel brochures. Could you shoot a guest bedroom for a brochure? It was at that point that Andy and Krys turned to outside help. They knew what they didn’t know, so they went and got the best of the best to help them learn. The first hands-on “masterclass” course was held, and within weeks they were shooting hotel rooms and restaurants. Wedding videos soon followed (after all a bride doesn’t move as fast as a shark does – though the bite can be as deadly!!) and then the big move into complete wedding photography.
Again – Andy and Krys were in the right place at the right time. Knowing that it was a market that would grow, Andy sent Krys and Joan, the company’s first employee, to a course in Florida. Then, the island’s largest resort requested that Tropical Imaging take over the wedding photo business (300+ weddings a year) – starting tomorrow!! Andy couldn’t start “tomorrow”, because he didn’t have a camera! The cameras were in Florida! FedEx and B & H came to the rescue, and Andy, after reading training manuals and watching the course videos, began shooting the company’s first wedding two days later, even before Krys and Joan got back from “the course”. The wedding was a hit and the amphibious transformation was well on its way.
This has been the pattern ever since. A can do attitude, a diligence to not only live in one of the most beautiful place on earth, but to also be the best and to learn from the best, and a desire to give the ultimate experience and product to the client, have been the keys to the company’s success. Uncommon reliability, and a reputation for living up to promises, have made Tropical Imaging and now Brilliant “one of the top five photo studios in the Caribbean”.
Now, Brilliant is embarked upon a new journey – a journey to take it from simple 5 x 7 prints to being the company that helps its client’s “collect experiences”.
Experiences are future stories to be told, which in return enable human beings to engage others, everyone has a story. Brilliant is a company of storytellers that helps create, facilitate and adds “color” to its clients’ stories.
With its new purpose built and ultra Eco-friendly studio located minutes from the main resorts, Brilliant has setup a place where its team can work together, collaborate, challenge each other, learn from each other – a creative space unparalleled in Turks and Caicos and perhaps the Caribbean.
At Brilliant’s core is enabling it’s clients to become a generation of true storytellers, helping them to visually and compellingly share their experiences with friends and family, stand out and feel special.
